III Baltic classical guitar competition
I round: October 20-23, 2010, video round; II round: November 3-6, 2010, video round; III round December 10-12, 2010, Vilnius. Organizer of the competition - Lithuanian guitar music support fund. Partner of the competition - Lithuanian academy of music and theatre. Groups of participants:
Conduct of competition All groups of participants take part in the first round. During the first round, participants of each country compete with peers from their own respective countries only; i.e. they don't compete with contestants from a different country. From each group, six top performers from each country continue to the second round. Videos of the first round can be watched online from 2010.10.27, the results of the first round will be announced on 2010.10.31. All groups of participants take part in the second round. During the second round, participants are evaluated collectively within their groups. During the second round, fifteen laureates are selected - top three performers from each of the groups A, B, C, D and G. Six top performers from groups E and F continue to the third round in Vilnius. Travel and accomodation costs must be covered by the participants themselves, except for participants from Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia. Travel and accomodation costs to participants from these countries will be covered by the Lithuanian guitar music support fund. Videos of the second round can be watched online from 2010.11.10, the results of the second round will be announced on 2010.11.14. Six participants from each of the groups E and F compete in the third round. During the third round, participants are evaluated collectively within their groups. During the third round, six laureates are selected - top three performers from each of the groups E and F. Competition programme To all participant groups: I round (video) - a freely selected programme. Total time - up to 12 min. II round (video) - works of composers of XIX (Romantic era / not F.Sor or M.Giuliani /) and XX centuries. Works played in the first round may not be repeated. Total time - up to 15 min. To groups E and F: III round (Vilnius) - all works played in rounds I and II and one additional compulsory piece. E group compulsory piece: a freely chosen variation form piece, which has not been played in rounds I and II. F group compulsory piece: freely chosen, but had not been played in rounds I and II, either a prelude by J.S.Bach, a prelude and fugue, or two dances from the lute suites. Prizes and awards Laureates of all groups will be awarded by competition laureate diplomas and rewards: Prize fund of groups A, B, C, D and G - 1000 EUR; Prize fund of group E - 1100 EUR; Prize fund of group F - 1200 EUR; An offer to play a future solo concert in the guitar centre „Per Oktavą“ in Vilnius may be offered to the best performers in groups A, B, C, D and G. In addition, solo performances will be arranged for two of the best performing participants of the third round for the 2011 concert season, organized by Lithuanian guitar music support fund. The jury The jury of the competition consists of famous pedagogues, musicians, composers and professors from European countries. Full list of names of the jury will be announced before the third round. Accomodation To guests and participants of the competition during the third round in Vilnius we offer accomodation in hotels - single, double and triple rooms from 10 to 25 EUR per person per night. Participant's fee group A – none group B – 20 Eur. group C – 30 Eur. group D – 30 Eur. group E – 50 Eur. group F – 50 Eur. group G – 50 Eur.
